Research Notes

  • If Elizabeth Turner, daughter of Hannah Lightfoot, was baptised on the 31st of March 1759, and Buxton Lawn, son of Hannah Lightfoot, was baptised on the 10th of February 1759, questions must be asked...
  • I have checked the other children, namely Henry, Betsy, Mary, listed on Buxton's profile and have not found them yet.

Buxton Lawne was baptised on the 10th of February 1759 at Norton Subcourse, Norwich, Norfolk, England. He was the son of John and Mary Lawne.[1]

In 1811, there is a marriage performed in London between Buxton Lawn, widower and Mary Ann Duffell Duncan, widow, on the 22nd of April 1811. The original is badly damaged, by what looks like flames, along the spine, but luckily still readable, as are the signatures.[13]

This is very upsetting to me! I understand you all feel that a fabrication is going on. But to myself a descendant of Buxton Lawn this is no joke and certainly not something we ever intended to be debated publicly or on WikiTree. I created the original profile for Buxton without adding or mentioning the connection to George III. Someone came along and added him as a son creating this embarrassment to my family. This is a very real thing to my family and as you all think of all the ways this can not possibly be true including marriages and the alternate parentage of Buxton on his baptismal. Which our family is aware of and has an explanation for handed down through out time. I have asked that Buxton be removed as a son from George III.
