On the census of "Saint Jacques a Cabanhannoces" on the two banks of the river, taken on January 1, 1777, "Le Sieur Jacques Cantrelle" was the first person documented. Nicolas Verret had died but Cantrelle's daughter, Verret's widow and her children were also in the household.
