The purpose of the Campbells of Garrard County Kentucky is to identify the various Campbell families that settled or passed through Garrard County, Kentucky. The long-term goal of this project is to collect male Y-DNA from Campbell male descendants of these Campbell male settlers.

Garrard County located in east-cental Kentucky was formed in 1797 from Lincoln County. The main focus of this project is to focus on the northern portion of the original county in south-central Kentucky. This will include Lincoln (1780), Mercer (1785), Madison (1785), and Casey (1806) counties. It may also look at neighboring Fayette (1780) and Jessamine (1799) counties as well.

Charles was originally from Lexington, Rockbridge County, Virginia. Moved to Gilbert's Creek in Lincoln County, later Garrard County in the 1780's along with his brother Isaac Campbell. It is possible that his two other brothers, James and William moved to the are with him.
