Book Information
This book mainly covers the 'northern' United States Carruth families. It does not detail the 'southern' branch, although there is some discussion. There are other books that cover those families in more detail.
Chapter 1 explains some of the history of the Carruth family and name and the standardized spelling, Carruth, appears to have become the generally accepted form by the later part of the 17th centure. Prior to then, we find many variations. These reflect not only what the clerk originally wrote but also the best attempt of someone to deciper the old writing at the time the document was published. Some of these found in the old records are: Family pg 14
