Introduction

Cousin to Elijah B. Perry Plantation

OWNER: Jeremiah Perry (1731-1777), then later to nephew, Jeremiah Perry (1761-1838)
BUILT: The older house built ca 1751, the larger one was built in the 1850's

He was one of the original 7 Perry Brothers.

The 7 Original Perry Brothers were:

William Perry (ca 1717-aft 1807) Franklin Co.
John Perry (ca 1720-1796) Franklin Co.
Francis Perry (ca 1723-1813) Wake Co.
Nathaniel Perry (ca 1726-1790) Franklin Co.
Jeremiah Perry (1731-1777) Bute Co.
Joshua Perry (ca 1733-1792) Warren Co.
Burwell Perry (ca 1735-1803) Franklin Co.

The first Jeremiah Perry's, son, Jeremiah Perry Jr., sold the land he'd inherited to his uncle Burwell Perry(1735-1803). Burwell's son, also named Jeremiah Perry (1761-1838), inherited the property, and it is through his line that Cascine was passed down. Known as Col. Jeremiah Perry after his rank in 1781, he was married in 1785 to Temperance Boddie (1767-1850), dau/of Nathaniel Boddie.

Owners

In 1752, Jeremiah Perry Perry-1400 obtained from the Earl of Granville a grant for 382 acres south of Cedar Creek. On this tract shortly afterward he built Cascine.
