Ships

  • From a Quarter Court of the Virginia Company held in London 17 May 1620, a note of the shipping men and provisions sent to Virginia by the Treasurer and Company 1619:
The Swan of Barnstable, 100 ton in March 1619[/20] with 71 persons.[2]
It is then recorded at a Court held 4 November 1620 that of the 70 [instead of 71] persons on the Swann, no one died during that passage.[2]
It is not known if this is the same Swan on which Cecily traveled to Virginia. Spratlin-29 20:02, 30 August 2023 (UTC)

Other Genealogies Revisited

That Jordan Family has French Origins

Cecily's profile on WikiTree previously purported:

"His branch of the Jordan family probably originated in France and became associated with the reform movement (Huguenots). They went to England and eventually came to the new world."[citation needed]

This claim is unsourced. Spratlin-29 18:18, 30 August 2023 (UTC)

That William Farrar was a Barrister

Mayes states regarding the Pooley breech of promise suit:

"This was the celebrated case of its day. William Farrar, trained for the law in England and the executor of Samuel Jordan's estate, was enlisted by Cecily to represent her."

This embellishment to the Pooley dispute is apparently based on the conflation of William Farrar (bef.1583-bef.1637) with William Ferrar (abt.1593-bef.1620), son of Nicholas Ferrar (1544-1620) . That William Ferrar studied law at Middle Temple in London and became a barrister in 1618. He set off for Virginia around 1619 but died on the way. Spratlin-29 19:16, 24 August 2023 (UTC)
