The goal of this project is to list tips for getting the most out of the census records for England and Wales.
Right now this project just has one member, me. I am Rob Wilson. Please message me if you would like to join.
Here are some of the tasks that I think need to be done. I'll be working on them, and could use your help.
- The exact dates of each census
- What is included in each census (it varies over time)
- What the transcriptions don't tell you
- Common "untruths" in the census
- The 1939 register - what is in it and what is missing
