About the Project

The Chamberlayne Name Study project serves as a collaborative platform to collect information on the Chamberlayne name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join the study to help make it a valuable reference point for other genealogists who are researching or have an interest in the Chamberlayne name.

As a One Name Study, this project is not limited to persons who are related biologically. Individual studies can be used to branch out the research into specific methods and areas of interest, such as geographically (England Chamberlaynes), by time period (18th Century Chamberlaynes), or by topic (Chamberlayne DNA, Chamberlayne Occupations, Chamberlayne Statistics). These studies may also include a number of family branches which have no immediate link with each other. Some researchers may even be motivated to go beyond the profile identification and research stage to compile fully sourced, single-family histories of some of the families they discover through this name study project.

Thank you, Martin! That's interesting to know. I have Emma in my working family tree. She was a 2x great granddaughter of Sir Thomas Chamberlayne. Here is her father Edmund Chamberlayne.

Thanks a lot Frances!

I reported few fact on Thomas Gowland Chamberlayne

Gowland_Chamberlayne-1

and more to the profile of his son, Daniel Gowland Phillips, my great-great-great grandfather. However, these notes are in Spanish...

Gowland_Phillips-1

I already linked my tree to the Chamberlayne family! Thanks a lot for this wonderful information!

I am a descendant of Emma Elizabeth Chamberlayne Atkins, wife of Sir Thomas Gowland and I loaded both profiles to WikiTree. I mention this because I also loaded my DNA sample.

Emma was born in London, England, UK and died on 14 Mar 1770 (unknown location). The wiki link to her profile is https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Chamberlayne_Atkins-1#matches
