The Channel Islands are a cluster of islands in the English Channel, off the coast of Normandy in France. The islands include:
- the Bailiwick of Jersey, the largest of the islands;
- the Bailiwick of Guernsey, comprising Guernsey, Alderney, Sark and other smaller islands.
The Bailiwicks of Jersey and Guernsey are self-governing possessions of the British Crown. They are not part of the United Kingdom, although the UK is responsible for their defence and international relations.
