1825 Brothers Jacob Surget and James Surget divided the property "Cherry Grove"[3]

Slave Uprising
In 1861 slaves were rounded up because of schemes to kill their masters and ravish their wives. 10 of these enslaved persons were hung on Jacob Surget's Cherry Grove.[5]
