Cemetery name: Cherry Hill Cemetery

Address: 13-19 Marsh Street, Gloucester, Massachusetts, 01930

GPS Coordinates: 42.62376, -70.67976

Historical information on this cemetery is scarce but it was probably established by the City in the mid-nineteenth century when the older cemeteries located closer to town were beginning to fill up. It was heavily used during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Its proximity to the Addison Gilbert Hospital was convenient during times of epidemic when large numbers of bodies were reportedly buried in a common grave.

According to the Historic Society the cemetery sits on 2.86 acres and the earliest death date appears to be 1843.
