About this Project

The primary goal of this project is to fulfill the Clan Irwin Association's desire for a comprehensive online database of Irwin family trees that can be accessed and utilized by all, regardless of their surname's spelling. To achieve this, the project is creating a database based on the Y-DNA haplotree structure. The use of the Wikitree platform enables the posting of family trees of

• Irwins (and variant spellings) who have taken one of FamilyTreeDNA's Y-DNA tests
• Irwins (and variant spellings) who have taken FamilyTreeDNA's Family Finder autosomal DNA test
• Irwins (and variant spellings) who have taken DNA tests with other DNA testing companies
• other Irwins (and variant spellings) who are Clan Irwin Association members
• other Irwins (and variant spellings) who are already participating in the Wikitree platform
• other Irwins (and variant spellings)

Moreover, this project aims to apply developing DNA haplotrees as a framework to group these family trees based on ancestral lines. This will enable Project members to access the single family tree database and collaborate with each other to expand and refine these family trees. The project will also facilitate communication between members who wish to collaborate on the development of these family trees.
