The outline that follows is given to encourage genealogists to consult modern, reliable materials about the family, such as C. G. Clark (1998). Genealogists should avoid or be wary of claims promoted in Peskett (1995).
Anderson, 2015

- p. 67, Rowland Clark--Banham, [Norfolk]; 1637; Dedham [DeTR 1:34; DeVR 127; NGSQ 74:5; NEHGR 152:3-23] Arrived 11(6)1637 Proprietor; see also "Additions and Corrections to The Great Migration Directory: Immigrants to New England, 1620-1640" for Rowland Clark, "Change English origin from 'Banham, Suffolk' to 'Banham, Norfolk.'”
C. G. Clark, 1998
Christopher Gleason Clark, "The English Ancestry of Joseph Clark (1613-1683) of Dedham and Medfield, Massachusetts" The New England Historical and Genealogical Register 152 (1998): 3-23 at 19. Clark's article is available to NEHGS members as a PDF, as noticed AmericanAncestors.
Robert Charles Anderson included notes on this work in the Great Migration Newsletter 7 (1998):31; digital images by subscription, AmericanAncestors. Anderson wrote, "Clark demonstrates that Joseph Clark of Dedham was baptized at Banham, Norfolk, and ... he had sisters Rebecca (who married Ralph Wheelock) and Elizabeth (who married George Barber). Joseph Clark also had siblings Rowland and Mary who may have come to Dedham, and if so, the latter married Benjamin Smith ..."
See Clark's companion article that updates some of the Banham family information, Christopher Gleason Clark, "Colborne Origins and Clark Revelations," The New England Historical and Genealogical Register, 153 (1999), 180-182; digital images by subscription, AmericanAncestors.
Peskett, 1995 (significantly erroneous)
Victor Peskett, Clark's Kin, A Seventeenth Century East Anglian Family in New England (Metfield, Suffolk: privately printed, 1995), 1-10, 27-29. [Not listed in WorldCat, FamilySearch Catalog or NEHGS Catalog]
This work is remarked as erroneous by Christopher Gleason Clark (1998). Clark describes that Peskett's oversights to include conflating "birthplaces, siblings and parentage," causing what should be distinct families to appear otherwise. The confusion concerns "Joseph Clarke of Dorchester with alleged siblings Bray and Thomas; Joseph, Thomas, John and Carew Clarke of Rhode Island; and Joseph and the other Clarks of Dedham." Peskett apparently treated these men as though "they were all children born in Westhrope, Suffolk, to a Rowland Clarke of Great Yeldham, Essex, and Mary Hobart of Barnham," in part based on loosely compiled records in "the [IGI] and Ancestral File databases."
Anderson, 1986
Robert Charles Anderson, "Clark, Hunting, and Wheelock Families of Dedham, Massachusetts: Some English Clues," National Genealogical Society Quarterly, 74 [1986]: 3-6.
Published the discovery of the Ralph Wheelock - Rebecca Clark marriage in Wramplingham, Norfolk, England. This work is mentioned and cited by Christopher Gleason Clark (1998).
Moriarity, 1921
George Andrews Moriarity, Jr., "Clarke-Cooke (alias Carewe) - Kerrick," The New England Historical and Genealogical Register 75 (1921):273-301; digital images, Hathi Trust.
This material provides a detailed account and analysis supporting the English origins and family of "Dr. John Clarke, the famous settler of Newport, [Rhode Island]."
Christopher Gleason Clark (1998) described Moriarity's work as "a major monograph" on Dr. Clarke's origins and family. (See Clark's further comments under "Morrison, 1902."
Morrison, 1902
George Austin Morrison, Jr., The Clarke Families of Rhode Island (New York: 1902), 9-13. digital images, FamilySearch.
This work is mentioned and cited by Christopher Gleason Clark (1998). Of the many errors in Peskett (1995), Clark wrote, "Years earlier, George A. Morrison had presented clear evidence that the Clarkes of Westerly [Rhode Island] were the children of Thomas and Rose (Kerrick/Keridge) Clarke of Westhorpe, Suffolk, and George Andrews Moriarity, Jr. composed a major monograph on this family."
Pope, 1900
Charles Henry Pope, The Pioneers of Massachusetts ... (Boston, C.H. Pope, 1900), 102 (Joseph), 103 (Rowland); digital images, Hathi Trust.
Correctly identifies Joseph's family, naming wife only as Alice. Incorrectly identifies Mary Clark, who died 1642 as the widow of Rowland.
A.P. Clarke, 1896
Augustus Peck Clarke, Clarke's Kindred Genealogies (Harvard Print. Co., Cambridge, Mass., 1896), 5-12; digital images, InternetArchive.
Cites Jameson's erroneous identification of Joseph Clarke's wife as Alice Peppit, and conflates Joseph Clarke of Dorchester with Joseph Clarke of Dedham and Medfield.
Jameson, 1886 (errors as to origins, wife)
E. O. Jameson, The History of Medway, Mass., 1713-1885 ... ([Providence, R. I., J. A. & R. A. Reid, printers, c1886], 462 (Joseph Clark); digital images, Hathi Trust.
Incorrectly identifies Joseph's origins as Suffolk, England; names wife "Alice Pepper." Mis-identifies the wife of Joseph, Jr.
Savage, 1862
James Savage, A genealogical dictionary of the first settlers of New England ..., 4 vols. (Boston : Little, Brown and company, 1860-62), 1:391-404 (Clark), at 398 (Joseph, Dedham); digital images, Hathi Trust.
Incorrectly suggest that Joseph may first have been at Dorchester, but reports the correct date of freemanship. Identifies wife only as Alice, but misidentifies Mary Allen as a second wife, instead of the wife of Joseph Jr. Adds a third wife Mary. Names son-in-law John Adams, a mistranscription of the original will in the probate books (should be son John Clarke). Entry for Rowland Clark, Dedham (death only)
Farmer, 1829
John Farmer, A genealogical register of the first settlers of New England ... (Lancaster, Mass., Carter, Andrews & co., 1829), 60-62 (Clark) at 61 (Joseph Clarke, Dedham); digital images, Hathi Trust.
Incorrectly identifies Joseph Clark of Dedham as the Joseph Clark made free in 1635. [This was Joseph Clark (1611-1641) of Dorchester]. No mention of Rowland Clark.

Other Noteworthy
(WIP - might add FindAGrave, etc.)
(2) Hope someone will add other relevant New England Marriages prior to 1700 entries, especially for the children's marriages. As folks have time, would be wonderful if links were added to support the works consulted the entries in that record group.
(3) In the section "Other Noteworthy," hope someone will create a proper entry for user contributed sites, like FindAGrave, FamilySearch FamilyTree, perhaps Geni, etc.
