Introduction
This is a high level overview of the Clifts on WikiTree along with resources, research notes, and DNA evidence as it becomes available. The primary focus at present is on two different U.S. Clift families, that of Marshfield, Massachusetts and Prince George's County, Maryland.
Clift Families
Marshfield, Massachusetts Clifts
William Clift (1666-1722) has been identified as the immigrant ancestor of the Marshfield, Massachusetts Clifts, originating from Essex, England.
Prince George's County, Maryland Clifts
Joseph Clift Sr. (abt.1715-1791) is believed to have been born, most likely, in Prince George's County, Maryland. His immigrant ancestor has yet to be identified. Joseph may be a descendant of the Virginia Clifts who arrived in the New World during the mid to late 1600s.

Y-DNA
As of the publication of this page, only two known Clifts have tested for Y-DNA, a member of the Marshfield, Massachusetts Clift family and Chase Clift of the Prince George's, Maryland Clift family. Initial evidence indicates that the Marshfield & Prince George County Clifts are not connected in the time-span of recorded history. The Clifts who have tested share descent from the IJK-L15 haplogroup.
