Virginia Plantations
Introduction
Isaac Howell Coles I (1747-1813) during his political career lived on a plantation on Staunton River at Coles Ferry, Halifax County; moved to Pittsylvania County in 1798.
His wife Catherine (Thompson) Coles (1768-1848) left the plantation to Walter per her will. [1]
Their son was Walter Coles (1790-1857). In his will many of the enslaved are listed.
Isaac died on 3 Jun 1813 at Coles Plantation, Pittsylvania, Virginia. An inventory of his estate was made in August 1813. [2]
