A lot of Cook/e families in Virginia, but whether or how they are related is murky and a lot of families and profiles appear to be conflated as of this writing (7 April 2022).

These profiles for a John Cook/e (as of 7 April 2022) appear to represent the families in the different areas.

• Gloucester County (died there too): John Cooke, born 1690, died 1776
• Isle of Wight County (married/died in Surry County): John Cooke born abt.1658, died abt.1711
• New Kent County, St. Peter's Parish (probably; died Cumberland County), John Cooke Sr. born abt. 1700, died 1775
• Old Rappahannock County (died Essex): John Cook, born 1688, died 1733
  • Essex County (created from Rappahannock County, 1692): John Cooke, born 1654, died in Essex County in 1727 (apparently a different person than Cook-5918, born 1688/died 1733)

• Isle of Wight County - name changed from Warrosquyoake, 1637.^[1]
• Middlesex County was formed from Lancaster County in 1669.^[1]
• New Kent County
• Rappahannock County was formed in 1656 from Lancaster County. "Old" Rappahannock County became extinct in 1692 when it was divided into Essex County and Richmond County in 1692. The records were transferred to Essex County (records include Land, Probate, and Court Records from 1656).^[1]
  • Essex County was created in 1692 from Rappahannock County.^[1]
