Location: Rijswijk, Holland
Surnames/tags: Coman Rijswijk
Comans woning was a residence located at the eastern side of the Noordpolder of Rijswijk. It was probably built in the 14th century.
Founding
The earliest mention of the residence's land comes from 1320.[1] The size of the land was 3 morgen (~25.500 m²), which is the size it would stay for the many centuries it existed. In this record a merchant, named IJsbrand die Koopman receives these 3 morgen after the death of Andries van der Burch. A description of the land was as follows:
- 3 morgen land in Rijswijk
- (West:) land of lord Dirx Baertouds' children
- (East:) Machteld van der Brake and her sisters
There was however no residence mentioned on the land at the time. Since IJsbrand's descendants eventually lived on this land, it could be that IJsbrand built the house after he received the land in 1320.
