The Company was made up of volunteers, each private enlisting for one year, for a $27.00 bonus payable upon completion of service. All but two of the officers enrolled on 10 Aug 1872; 1st Lt.. Milton P. Hodges and 2nd Lt. Charles S. Brent both enrolled on 18 Aug 1862. As of the muster-in date of 22 Aug 1862, there were 4 officers, 18 NCOs, 4 auxiliary specialists (2 farriers, 1 saddler, 1 wagoner), and 78 privates, for a total of 104 men in the Company.
