The Connecticut Gazette

Connecticut’s earliest known newspaper. Mainly a military record reporting the events of the French and Indian War (1754-1763). Publication began on April 12, 1755. James Parker of New York owned and published it. His business partner was Benjamin Franklin, who enjoyed helping printers outside of Philadelphia (Franklin’s town) start newspapers.
