I'm researching my family. My father (Michael Connolly) died when I was 11 and I don't know a lot about them so I've decided to do some research. I'm still struggling a bit with this website.

Hi. I am researching my grandmother Annie Connelly/Connelly.

I know she was born Meath area of Ireland around 1880 + or- 5yrs. Would it be the accepted thing to join the one name study in the hope of expanding my research and possibly helping others? Thanks in advance

I have recently identified that I have a small DNA match to a group of people who are descendants of various Connollys (Connelly/Conley etc) who came from a family originating in or around Drumacon, Belturbet, county Cavan, Ireland, most of whom emigrated to New Brunswick in Canada around 1829, though at least one remained in Cavan and her children later moved to Scotland.

Research by another descendant of this family has linked four or five sibling via DNA and I can tell from my shared matches that their match to me is via my Plunkett ancestors in county Fermanagh (close to the border with Cavan) so I would like to identify if possible, which of my ancestors was a Connolly. I am looking for Connollys prior to the period 1825 as my oldest known Plunkett ancestor was born then. I have some matches to other descendants of Connollys from Ireland who may or may not be connected to the above mentioned family.
