Notes
This is a "private Cook Cemetery located in the Highmound Community of Blount County, Alabama on the old Baker Homestead; the cemetery contains the graves of Clayton C Cook, Telitha (Bailey) Cook and an unknown grave, possibly infant son Thomas."[1]
The Cook gravesite is now located on private property but seems to have been preserved and well-maintained, as a new memorial headstone was added around 2011, and satellite imagery indicates that the trees around the site seem to have been cleared between 2015 and 2019. It was probably on land that once belonged to Henry W. Baker and his wife, Mary Jane Cook, who was the daughter of Clayton and Telitha.
Frankie Burnett has photographed the gravesite and confirmed the GPS location to be at 34°08'32.0"N 86°21'17.9"W. She also wrote:
- "The grave is on property currently owned by descendants of the Miller family [on] Miller Road [between Snead and Boaz, Alabama]. My grandparents owned the adjoining property, which was a portion of the original Baker land, until their deaths, [and] my mother then sold the property in the 1990s-2000s. My sister has the original land grant in her safe and I have a copy somewhere. I can't remember if it was to Henry Washington Baker or his father Peter Baker."[2]
