Cork, Ambrose Name Study
The goal of this project is to find every non-living person with the Ambrose surname in County Cork, Ireland, and make a wikitree profile for them. We are especially interested in the Ambrose Family of County Cork, Ireland. Mary Ambrose who married Patrick Troy is buried in Lisgoold Cemetery on Church Road between Top Cross townland and Templebodan. We would like to find her siblings, cousins and ancestors. This will be a challenge, as she died in the Great Irish Famine, and she was already married to Patrick Troy, Sr. during the Tithe Battle of Gortroe in 1834. So we will need to find early Catholic church records, which didn't begin legally until about 1829. We are hoping to find all the Catholic and possibly even Protestant church records from the area that record the lives of the members of the Ambrose Family.
Right now this project just has one member, me. I am Sharon Centanne.
Here are some of the tasks that I think need to be done. I'll be working on them, and could use your help.
- Help find Irish Roman Catholic and Protestant church records for the Ambrose Family
- Take pictures of gravestones in the Lisgoold and Gortroe cemeteries, especially for the Ambrose Family.
- Adding sources
- Adding categories
- Adding relevant templates
- Connecting family members to the global family tree.
