Description
- Corner Brook is a city of almost 20 000 people on the Bay of Islands at the mouth of the Humber River, on the West Coast of Newfoundland. It is now the second largest population center in Newfoundland, after St. John's, but the area in Bay of Islands was not settled until late in the 1700s[1]. In 1968, several communities in Bay of Islands amalgamated to form the current city of Corner Brook---Curling (Birchy Cove), Humbermouth, Townsite and Westside[2], built around the lumber and fishing industries.
