Dear Durham Team Members,

I have recently been appointed as Team Leader of Durham & Tyne and Wear and I’m getting in touch with team members to say hello. I was born in York but my Bulmer ancestors are reputedly from Brancepeth hence my interest in Durham. Proving the connection to Brancepeth has been a life long ambition and work in progress! Also my 2xG grandfather was rector of St Andrew's in Deptford, Bishopwearmouth near Durham.

I have been reviewing the team page: County Durham & Tyne and Wear Team.

I’d be grateful if you could cast your eye over the members interests table and let me know if the places and surnames recorded against your name are up-to-date and correct. Please let me know if anything needs updating.

If you would like to improve the overall quality of profiles in Durham & Tyne and Wear and aren’t sure what to do, please let me know.

I look forward to working with you!

With best wishes

Rachel

currently searching robinson surname from durham and whereabouts before and after. family surname in a huge muddle.
Hi David - Thanks for your message - Do you mean Durham City, or County Durham generally? I can see there are 403 profiles with the surname Robinson in County Durham, so a lot to work with.

It might be useful if you go through the England Project Orphan Trail to help you identify the most suitable ways to approach your research.

Would you like me to ask someone to contact you about this?

Kind regards Neil England Project County Durham Team Leader

whichever you think best. thankyou
I have passed your details on to our team to get you started.

In the mean time, do you have a specific question?

Are you based in England?

posted by Neil Perry
yes based in england/yorkshire.

no specific questions just would like to learn about my family history, maybe find more about my father unknown but also find more about where the wheelers meet the robinsons. ydna said i was genetic 7 to the wheeler surname at y67

Hi David,

I'm descended from Robinsons in County Durham, from Hetton le Hole and earlier on the border between County Durham and Northumberland. It was quite a common name! Looking forward to seeing you in the branches :) Marjorie (member of County Durham team)

Rather late replying but I have an ancestor Robinson Robinson https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Robinson-30337 ! Bit of a brick wall around there too. Chris

Now that there is a category for County Durham Notables (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:County_Durham%2C_Notables), I have updated the County Durham Notables FreeSpace page to include some suggestions for other notables that require WikiTree profiles. Hi Neil,

There are no specific areas of Durham that I am interested in, just Co Durham as a whole.

posted by Dave Haddock
Thanks David - there is a separate county team for Northumberland, I think they already this flag.

Hi do we not need the counties own map rather than durham's map?

Please add me to this group.

Thanks Dave Haddock

Hi Dave - Finally catching up with these messages - I have added your name to the page. What areas of County Durham are you particularly interested in?
posted by Neil Perry
Many of my furthest, documented, ancestors are from Co Durham, so it might be good to be part of this group.

Best Regards ....Mike (Edwards-7929)
