Description and location

Cromar Cottages, which are no longer extant, were two semi-detached dwellings located near Mount Street and Burnett Street in the civil parish of Banchory-Ternan, previously in the historic country of Kincardineshire and in present-day Aberdeenshire.

The cottages were located at DMS coordinates 57° 03’ 16” N, 2° 30’ 28” W.

The buildings are are shown at grid reference NO693960 on the Ordnance Survey 1:2,500 scale map published in 1967.

Former residents

Amongst the people who lived at Cromar Cottages were Thomas Shepherd Ireland Murdoch (1858-1927) and his wife, Agnes Ligertwood (1867-1955). Their daughter Jane Waggrel Murdoch (1893-1897) and eldest son, John Ligertwood Murdoch (1895-1973), were born there.
