My grandmother, Marie Dolezalova, eloped from Czechoslovakia with my grandad, Emil Edward Ellbogen. They travelled by ship to Tahiti and a couple of years later travelled by ship to New Zealand. Later Marie's sister, Erna, also immigrated to New Zealand. Marie had 7 children. Four are still living. Marie passed away in New Zealand when I was a young child, and is buried in Te Aroha. I visited her grave a few years ago.
