This is a One Name Study to collect together in one place everything about one surname and the variants of that name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join our study to help make it a valuable reference point for people studying lines that cross or intersect.

Founder of one of the "First Families of Virginia," Cornelius Daubney, aka Dabney, aka d'Aubigné, was christened on December 11, 1631, in Bucknall Parish, Lincolnshire, England. His father's Christian name was Theodore and his mother was Dorothy (Batts) Daubney, daughter of Humphrey Bate of Lincolnshire. The family was of French origins, probably from the Anglo-Norman period (12th Century).[1]

Other Daubney/Dawbney/Dabney family members lived in Somerset and Dorset.[2]
