Dannevirke

Dannevirke is a rural service town in the Tararua District, in the Manawatū-Whanganui Region of the North Island, New Zealand.

Dannevirke was first surveyed as part of the 70-Mile Bush settlement scheme; the settlement founded by a small group of immigrants sent on from the original group arriving at Norsewood 14th October 1872, when it was found that insufficient land had been surveyed there for all who had arrived in the first party of settlers.
