Hi! I'm Dave Draper and in the spirit of Spike Jones, who is my cousin, and Weird Al Yankovic, who is not my cousin, this site is where you can find some comic relief with song parodies that focus on "Welcome to the Weekend Chat" or "WikiTree" themes!

What is a "song parody'? A parody is a creative work designed to imitate, comment on, and/or mock its subject by means of satiric or ironic imitation. Often its subject is an original work or some aspect of it, but a parody can also be about a real-life person, event, or movement.

Original Music

This song, believe or not, was AI GENERATED! Not only the lyrics, but also the music and singing!

My son, Jason, challenged me to make a song on his SUNO account. I wanted a Gradians Of The Galaxy genre. He typed in: symphonic rock / art rock / electric rock Next, I told him to type in: Family, Ancestry, Family Stories, Family Tree, and Contributions points (just to be funny) ! SUNO generated EVERYTHING in about 10 seconds.

On the link, not all the lyrics are shown. On the version below, I added in the extra lyrics and made edits where needed. I could have done this in the SUNO program, but it is on my son's computer, and I am on my computer at home, and it costs $$ to start tweaking and saving changes. I asked my son not to delete this off his SUNO account just yet so enjoy this while it lasts. It will be temporarily added to my free space Song Parodies, but not for long.

You Make Me Feel Like Chattin'

Sung to the tune of You Make me Feel Like Chatting by Leo Sayer

  • The song was instead credited to Leo Sayer!
  • It reached No. 1 in 1977 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart, making it Sayer's first top single in the United States and won a Grammy Award for the year's best Rhythm and Blues Song.

  • A Dame With No Name
  • On the first part of the profile, I was looking at all her life
  • There were 4 spouses, kids, her Church and friends
  • There were clubs and bills and rings
  • The first thing I saw was her heart like a dove
  • And a life with no clouds
  • The love was hot, but it made her cry
  • In the air was angered sounds
  • I've been through the research for a dame with no name
  • The family didn't know her name
  • In the research they can't remember her name
  • Cause their ain't no record that shows her birth name
  • La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la,
  • La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la,
  • After two days searchin' for her name, my eyes began to turn red
  • After three days in the research fun, I was looking at a rusty bed
  • And the story it told of the life that flowed
  • Made me sad to think they're all dead
  • You see I've been through the research for a dame with no name
  • I can't find her maiden name
  • And the family can 't remember her name
  • 'Cause there ain't no record that shows her birth name
  • La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la,
  • La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la,
  • Music
  • After nine days I let the profile go free
  • 'Cause the research had brick walled me
  • There were 4 spouses, kids, her Church and friends,
  • There were clubs and bills and rings
  • The research is a desert with its life underground
  • And a gravestone poised above
  • Under cemeteries lie hearts turned to dust
  • Above, taphophiles show no love
  • You see, I've been through
  • The research for a dame with no name
  • I can't find her maiden name
  • And the family can 't remember her name
  • 'Cause there ain't no record that shows her birth name
  • La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la,
  • La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la,

  • Looking here on my screen scrolling down with the wheel
  • Looking back at the profile's circle indicator fields
  • My Watchlist was at 17; its now four thousand and one
  • I don't know how I'll get 'em down, but Weekend Chat's on
  • Chattin' on! Chat room ain't empty!
  • Chattin' on! It's so fine!
  • Chattin' on! Chattin' into the night!
  • But I'm so far behind
  • Gotta do what you can just to keep the chat alive
  • Trying love to infuse it, with what you do to get high
  • Source-A-Thon was here one week, and the Weekend Chat wasn't on!
  • Don't know what I did to survive while the Chat was gone!
  • Chattin' on! Chat room ain't empty!
  • Chattin' on! It's so fine!
  • Chattin' on! Chattin' into the night,
  • But I'm so far behind

  • Chatter's need some reason to believe
  • I know all my wikipeep friends and me
  • We'll be here all night, that'll be all right
  • If we can get you to smile before we leave
  • Lookin' down through the chat, schrolling down with the wheel
  • I don't know how to tell you all just how crazy this love feels
  • Look around for the friends that we used to turn to pull us through
  • Lookin' at their replies, I see them chattin' too!
  • Chattin' on! Chat room ain't empty!
  • Chattin' on! It's so fine!
  • Chattin' on! Chattin' into the night,

  • You know the way you are so kind
  • I'm going to stick around, but I'm running behind
  • Chattin' on! You know I don't even know what I'm hoping to find
  • Speak your mind! Chattin' into the night, but I'm running behind

  • It's nine o'clock on a Friday morn
  • The Weekend Chat has begun
  • My dog is sitting here next to me
  • Licking on me with his tongue
  • I chat: "Found a friend who has family
  • He told me that he doesn't know
  • So I started a search on the WikiTree
  • Found their graves in old Idaho" (USA)
  • La, la-la, di-di-da
  • La-la di-di-da da-dum
  • Tell us your story on the Weekend Chat
  • We will be chattin' all night
  • Well, we're all in the mood for your company
  • Anything that you post is alright!
  • Now I know Pip is a cousin of mine
  • He lets me do "Song Parodies"
  • And he tells me: "You're going to get Down Votes my friend
  • If you poke fun at Ancestry"
  • He chats: "Friends, my shoulder is killing me"
  • But he always has a smile on his face
  • "Well, I worked on some profiles of movie stars,
  • And astronauts that went up in space"
  • Oh, la, la-la, di-di-da
  • La-la di-di-da da-dum
  • Now "Professor" lives in old Germany
  • Chats about some famous dates
  • And we're chattin' about gravy, meatballs and maybe
  • We'll be on here chattin' 'till late!
  • And some Wikipeeps talk of politics
  • And some chat about a gravestone
  • Yes, we all share our stories about loneliness
  • But it's better than chattin' alone
  • Tell us your story on the Weekend Chat
  • We will be chattin' all night
  • Well, we're all in the mood for your company
  • Anything that you post is alright!
  • It's a pretty good crowd for a Saturday
  • All the chattin' gives me a smile
  • We've been waiting to see pictures of old Germany
  • To forget about life for a while
  • And a thousand people are looking in
  • To what we are chatin' 'bout here
  • But they will not post a thought or a joke
  • And wonder what we're doing here!
  • Oh, la, la-la, di-di-da
  • La-la di-di-da da-dum
  • Tell us your story on the Weekend Chat
  • We will be chattin' all night

  • Somewhere Over Chicago
  • Somewhere over Chicago
  • Jet planes fly
  • Over Mt. Carmel graveyard
  • In the city of old Hillside
  • Somewhere over in Carmel
  • Gansters lie
  • They all killed one another
  • Catholics resting side-by-side
  • Someday I'll jump into my car
  • And drive to where the mobsters are
  • So far from me
  • Where they all dropped from machine gun shots
  • From bombs and killed by dirty cops
  • That's where you'll find me
  • Somewhere over on Wiki-
  • Tree you'll find
  • Profiles of all the bad guys
  • Now resting side-by-side
  • O'banion and the Genna brothers
  • Al Capone and many others, lie resting
  • Frank Nitty's grave and Joe Giunta's
  • Are nearby Sam Giancana's
  • Vault behind me
  • Oh, somewhere over 20 gangsters
  • Lie side-by-side
  • In Mt. Carmel graveyard
  • In the city of old Hillside
  • If Wikipeeps can profile creeps

  • Top of the Tree
  • Such a feelin's comin' over me
  • Since I found and joined up with WikiTree
  • Every Source that I find, puts a gleam in my eyes
  • Findin' my family is a dream
  • Everything genealogy should be
  • Is found right here in profiles on WikiTree
  • And the reason is clear, because Wikipeeps are here
  • You're the nearest thing to family that I've seen
  • I'm on the top of the "Big Tree," lookin' down on creation
  • And the only explanation I can find
  • Is the love that I've found, ever since I've been around
  • Your love's put me at the top of the "Tree"
  • Distant cousins taught me 'bout my name
  • And they're telling me we're family just the same
  • In the leaves on the tree, are my family and me
  • It's a pleasing sense of happiness for me
  • There is only one wish on my mind
  • That our heritage my fam-i-ly will find
  • That my grandkids will see, that they came from you and me
  • All I need is to help them find us here
  • I'm on the top of the "Big Tree", lookin' down on creation
  • And the only explanation I can find
  • Is the love that I've found, ever since I've been around
  • Your love's put me at the top of the "Tree"
  • I'm on the top of the "Big Tree", lookin' down on creation

  • WikiTree Pie
  • It was 15 years ago
  • I can still remember
  • As WikiTree grew,
  • Used to make me smile
  • And I knew if I had my chance
  • I'd profile all the dead in France
  • And us newbies would happy for a while
  • But genealogy made me shiver
  • With no sources to deliver
  • Brick walls on my doorstep
  • I couldn't take one more step
  • I can't remember if I cried
  • When I profiled 'bout his widowed bride
  • Something touched me deep inside
  • The day that brick wall died
  • So, bye-bye, genealogy sites
  • Joined Wikitree, and told each one a happy "GOOD-BYE"
  • And all "Wikipeeps" were drinkin' whiskey and rye
  • Singin', "This'll be the new site to try!"
  • This'll be the new site to try"
  • Did you write a Bio of love
  • Do you have faith in the Tree above
  • If Connection Finder tells you so?
  • Now, do you believe in the Indian rolls?
  • Can Wiki save your mortal soul
  • And can you teach me how to Source real slow?
  • Well, I know that you'll be on again
  • 'Cause I saw your profile about Jim
  • You started to come unglued
  • Man, I hate those brick wall blues
  • I was a lonely middle age widowed buck
  • With an old laptop and a pickup truck
  • But I knew it was the best of luck
  • The day that brick wall died
  • I started singin', HI! Hi!, All you Wikipeep guys!
  • I finally stopped crying 'cause my heart was on fire
  • And all Wikipeeps were drinkin' whiskey and rye
  • Singin', "This'll be the new site to try!
  • This'll be the new site to try!"
  • Now, fifteen years we've been on our own
  • And moss grows thick on a graveyard stone
  • But that's not how it used to be
  • I'm related to the King and Queen
  • I'm also a cousin to James Dean
  • And a profile that was made by you and me
  • Oh, and while the search was going down
  • The Sourcer found his old hometown
  • The graveyard was adjourned
  • No photos were returned
  • And while Leon made a profile on Marx
  • We newbies practiced making charts
  • And we found sources in the dark
  • The day that brick wall died
  • We started singin', HI! Hi!, All you Wikipeep guys!
  • We finally stopped crying 'cause our hearts were on fire
  • And all Wikipeeps were drinkin' whiskey and rye
  • Singin', "Sorucer is the FREE app to try!
  • Sourcer is the FREE app to try!"
  • Helter skelter: Connect-A-Thon swelter
  • WikiTree tree grew big and provided shelter
  • Eight miles high and growing fast
  • It kicked others sites in the ass
  • They tried to stop our forward pass
  • With the Sourcer finding records in the past
  • Now, Wikipeeps' love is sweet perfume
  • While Date Night plays a marching tune
  • We all got up to dance
  • And at RootsTech we set up a stand
  • 'Cause the players tried to take the field
  • They won't keep up; they'll have to yield
  • Do you recall what was revealed
  • The day that brick wall died?
  • We started singin', HI! Hi!, All you Wikipeep guys!
  • We finally stoped crying 'cause our hearts were on fire
  • And all Wikipeeps were drinkin' whiskey and rye
  • Singin', "Sorucer is the FREE app to try!
  • Sourcer is the FREE app to try!"
  • Oh, and there we were in the G2G place
  • Pilots made it into Outer Space
  • Giving their time to help again
  • So, come on, Jack B. Nimble is Jack B. Quick
  • Run Sourcer to reveal and fix
  • Cause confusion is Ancestry's only friend
  • Oh, and as I watched them on the stage
  • And I ran Sourcer in a fit of rage
  • No dead restin' in hell
  • We'll resurrect them as well!
  • And as the sources came into light
  • The profiles were now lookin' bright
  • I saw Wikipees laughing with delight
  • The day that brick wall died
  • We started singin', HI! Hi!, All you Wikipeep guys!
  • We finally stoped crying 'cause our hearts were on fire
  • And all Wikipeeps were drinkin' whiskey and rye
  • Singin', "Sorucer is the FREE app to try!
  • Sourcer is the FREE app to try!"
  • I met a Wikipeep who sang the blues
  • And I asked her for some happy news
  • But she just smiled and turned away
  • I went to the download store
  • Where I'd found Sourcer years before
  • But the man there said it was down for the day
  • And on the forum the "children" screamed
  • We all cried, and we all dreamed
  • But not a word was spoken
  • Our Sourcer had been broken
  • And the one man that I admire most
  • Yes, our host who lives on the Eastern Coast
  • Stayed up all night; kicked out that hacker ghost!
  • The day that Sourcer died
  • We started singin', HI! Hi!, All you Wikipeep guys!
  • We finally stoped crying 'cause our hearts were on fire
  • And all Wikipeeps were drinkin' whiskey and rye
  • Singin', "Sorucer is UP and ALIVE!
  • Sourcer is UP and ALIVE!"
  • We started singin', HI! Hi!, All you Wikipeep guys!
  • We finally stoped crying 'cause our hearts were on fire
  • And all Wikipeeps were drinkin' whiskey and rye
  • Singin', "WIKITREE HAS FREED UP OUR LIVES

  • And my CC7 to peak
  • But it doesn't boot me half as much
  • As chattin' with the "Peeps"
  • Oh, I love to go out searching
  • In a graveyard by a creek
  • But I don't enjoy it half as much
  • As chattin' with the "Peeps"

  • I want to hear about you
  • That charm about you
  • Will carry me through to more...

Written and Recorder by Toby Keith

  • AKA Toby Keith Covel (July 8, 1961 – February 5, 2024)
  • Released on February 12, 1993, as his debut single
  • On June 5, 1993, the song reached No. 1 on the US Billboard Hot Country Songs
  • “This highway patrolman who I had met on the trip, his name was John, he jumps up. He was probably 45 or 50 back then, and he runs over to this 25-year-old cowgirl. He was going to show that he could bust a move. She turns him down. He comes over, and said, ‘She says she doesn’t dance.’ About 15 minutes later, a young cowboy comes in — and off they go on the dance floor. Everybody was making fun of him, and one of the guys said, ‘John, I guess you should have been a cowboy.’ ”

Thon Ride

Sung to the tune of "Sleigh Ride"

  • Sleigh Ride was an instrumental song composed by Leroy Anderson. who formed the original idea for the piece during a heat wave in July 1946, and he finished the work in February 1948.
  • Its first performance was by the Boston Pops, Arthur Fiedler conducting, on May 4, 1948. reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Pop Music chart.
  • Lyrics were added by Mitchell Parish, a Jewish lyricist who intended the lyrics of the song to describe a winter event, not Christmas. Mitchell Parish was chosen by Leroy Anderson to write lyrics for 7 of his compositions.
  • This song was chosen as this week's parody as was originally intended by the writer to be a sleighing song for everyone, whenever and wherever it snows. This makes parody makes a nice addition to the "Thon Songs". Enjoy!

Here is the music with lyrics: The Ronettes Official Music Video. Release November 22, 1963, which has been the biggest selling hit of this song!

  • It's Weekend Chat Somewhere
  • The sun is up and that old clock
  • Says 8 am, Friday morn
  • Work week passes like molasses
  • ‘Till weekend time, and Chat arrives
  • Chat comes on this hour
  • Can’t wait another minute
  • Anxiety pushed me
  • Over the limit
  • Can’t wait to post something
  • I wanna be the first one to say:
  • Post me something short or long
  • About anything, before I go insane
  • It's now just half past twelve. But I don't care
  • It’s Weekend Chat somewhere
  • This Chat break is gonna take
  • All afternoon, half the night
  • Tomorrow morning I know there'll be plenty to say
  • But, hey, that's all right
  • I ain't missed a Chat now, in over a year
  • Got lots to say, gonna start right here
  • If the phone's for me you can tell 'em
  • I just can’t get away!
  • Post me something short or long
  • About anything, before I go insane
  • It's now just half past twelve. But I don't care
  • It’s Weekend Chat somewhere
  • I could go take a nap, or pour a concrete slab
  • And be back on Chat before two
  • At a moment like this, I can't help but wonder
  • What would Pip Sheppard do?
  • Funny you should ask that!
  • Post me something short or long
  • About anything, before I go insane
  • It's now just half past twelve. But I don't care
  • Post me something short or long
  • About anything, before I go insane
  • It's now just half past twelve. But I don't care
  • I don't care
  • It’s Weekend Chat somewhere

  • I’ve Got FAMILY in Low Places
  • Blame it all on our roots, we wear cowboy boots
  • We’ll ruin your hacking affair
  • You hacked in our "Tree"; endangered my friends an me!
  • We’ll be the last ones you thought you'd see here
  • And we’ll see the surprise and the fear in your eyes
  • When we take your glass of champagne
  • And we’ll roast you, and say "Buddy, you’re through
  • You'll never hear members complain
  • 'Cause we’ve got family in low places
  • When you hack our "Tree" and our Free Space pages. We’ll blow you away!
  • And you wont be OK
  • Yeah, we’re not big on legal graces
  • We’ll all slip on down to your home location
  • Oh, we've got family in low places
  • Well, I guess we were wrong, you just don't belong
  • But then we’ve been there before
  • Everything's all right, better just say good night
  • When we all show up at your door
  • Hey, if you know what we mean, we might cause a big scene
  • Just give us an hour and then
  • Well, you’ll be as high as that computer tower
  • That you're hackin’ on
  • 'Cause we’ve got family in low places
  • When you hack our "Tree" and our Free Space pages. We’ll blow you away!
  • And you wont be OK
  • Yeah, we’re not big on legal graces
  • We’ll all slip on down to your home location
  • Oh, We’ve got family in low places
  • Oh, we've got family in low places
  • When you hack our "Tree" and our Free Space pages. We’ll blow you away!
  • And you wont be OK
  • Yeah, we’re not big on legal graces
  • We’ll all slip on down to your home location
  • Oh, We’ve got family in low places
  • Repeat Chorus 3 more times, slow fade out

The Thonler

  • Sung to the tune of The Gambler
  • Written by Don Schlitz in August of 1976
  • After two years of searching, the song was picked up, several artists covered it, but flopped.
  • When Kenny Rogers covered it, it went to Number 1
    • Parody by Dave Draper

  • The Thonler
  • On a warm Friday morning, on a search getting nowhere
  • I met up with a Wikipeep, we were both to tired to sleep
  • So we took turns a searching for records in the “darkness”
  • ‘Til boredom overtook us and we got on Weekend Chat
  • He chats: “Son, I’ve spent a lifetime, reading obituaries
  • And knowin’ where their homes were, and where they’re laid to rest!
  • So, if you don’t mind my saying, I can see you’re out of sources
  • I’m gonna drink some coffee, then I’ll give you some advice
  • So we went and both got coffee, we drank down our last swallow
  • Then he looked at my sources, and said, Well this ain’t right”!
  • Then he got deathly quiet, and later made this confession:
  • Said, “if you’re gonna play on WikiGames
  • You gotta learn to play it right”
  • You got to know how to source ‘em, and add templates to ‘em
  • Know how to merge some one when there’s duplications
  • You never count your points when you’re sitting at your table
  • There’ll be time enough for countin’ when the “Games” are done!
  • Every “Thonler” knows that the secret to survivin’
  • Is knowin’ when to play hard, and knowing when to sleep!
  • ‘Cause everyone’s a winner and everyone‘s a loser
  • And the best you can hope for, when it’s over, get some sleep
  • And when he finished chatin’
  • I just stared out my window
  • My eyes got heavy and I faded off to sleep
  • And sometime in my dreaming, I finally got the meaning!
  • But in his final words, I found advice that I could keep
  • You got to know how to source ‘em, and add templates to ‘em
  • Know how to merge someone when there’s duplications
  • You never count your points when you’re sitting at your table
  • There’ll be time enough for countin’ when the “Games” are done!
  • Repeat chorus 2 more times

Hip To Be Here!

  • I used to be on Ancestry
  • And Family Search around
  • But I couldn’t take the annoyance
  • And had to shut it down
  • Now I’m sourcing it real straight
  • And yes I post it here
  • You might think I'm crazy
  • But I don’t even care
  • 'Cause I can tell what's going on
  • It’s hip to be here!
  • Weekend Chat's here
  • I like my files all business like
  • I use the WikiTree
  • I’m profiling most every day
  • And watching other trees
  • They tell me that it's not good for me
  • But I don't even care
  • I know that it's crazy
  • I know that they’re nowhere
  • But there is no denying that
  • Weekend Chat’s here
  • It's hip to be here
  • Weekend Chat’s here
  • So hip to be here
  • Music
  • WikiTree ain't hard to figure out
  • I profile every day
  • Ancestors who are farthest out
  • Are cousins anyway
  • You see them in the graveyard
  • And Searching is a lot of fun
  • But don't you try to fight it
  • An idea whose time has come
  • Don't tell me that I'm crazy
  • Don't tell me I'm nowhere
  • Take it from me
  • Weekend Chat’s here
  • It’s hip to be here!
  • Weekend Chat’s Here!
  • So hip to be here
  • Tell 'em, boys
  • Weekend Chat’s here!

The Power of Chat!

  • The Weekend Chat is a curious thing
  • Make a one man weep, make another man sing
  • Posts of hawks and a little white dove
  • More than a feeling, that’s the Weekend Chat love
  • Wikipeeps are diamonds, rich like cream
  • They post their heartaches, and all their dreams
  • Post about good ones! Post a wrong turned right!
  • Weekend Chat will keep you going all night
  • You don't need money, don't take fame
  • Don't need no credit card to ride this train
  • It’s strong and amazing and it’s “Kewl” sometimes
  • But it might just change your life
  • That’s the Weekend Chat love
  • That’s the Weekend Chat love
  • First time you feel it, it will make you glad
  • Next time you feel it, it might made you sad
  • But do be glad, Wikis, when you’ve found
  • That’s the power makes the chattin’ go ‘round
  • And it don't take money, don't take fame
  • Don't need no credit card to ride this train
  • It’s strong and amazing and it’s “Kewl” sometimes
  • But it might just change your life
  • They say that all in Chat is fair
  • Yeah but Wikipeeps care
  • But you know what to do (to do)
  • When it gets hold of you
  • And with a little post with some love
  • You feel the Weekend Chat love
  • You feel the Weekend Chat love

  • (pronounce it du-pla- Kay-Ay-shuns)
  • Okay! We're gonna do one more! Yeah!
  • All the old profiles with the tombs *
  • They got the sources don’t you know?
  • If you save to quick (oh whey oh)
  • You’ll get kicked out like some spam-e-o
  • To get back in may take a while
  • Not to worry, and do not fret
  • They’ll let you in (oh whey oh)
  • When they stop smoking cigarettes
  • … Foreign types with the hookah pipes say
  • (Whey oh whey oh, ay oh whey oh)
  • You made duplications! (du-pla-K-A-shuns)
  • The great profiles take many days
  • You come back in and you edit more
  • They're looking good (oh way oh)
  • You drop your mouse, retrieve it off the floor
  • They got school kids, so take a look
  • They like the punk and the metal band
  • When the cell phone rings (oh whey oh)
  • You edit the description (de-script-she-an)
  • Wikipeeps on your Free Space page say
  • (Whey oh whey oh, ay oh whey oh)
  • You made duplications (dupla-K-A-shuns)
  • Music
  • Slide your mouse to the top, click and clack
  • Shift your arm then you pull it back
  • It's not hard you know (oh whey oh)
  • So post a pic of a Cadillac
  • If you wanna profile cops
  • Search the owners of the donut shops
  • Then include their dance (oh whey oh)
  • How they cruise squad cars down the block
  • All Japanese with names of Yen
  • Will drive you nuts, do it all again
  • And the Chinese, whoa! (oh whey oh)
  • You’re gonna make duplications (dupla-K-A-shuns)
  • Hang your head at the donut shop, say:
  • Oh no, Oh no, Oh no, I know
  • I made duplications (dupla-K-A-shuns)

The Heart of WikiTree (is still beating)

Sung to the tune of:

  • The Heart Of Rock & Roll
    • By Huey Lewis and the News; Recorded 1983
      • Unauthorized parody by Dave Draper

Here’s the music:

  • Music Intro: (heart beating) 34 seconds then:
  • New York, New York, is everything they say
  • And no place that I'd rather be
  • Where else can you find a million members
  • At the HQ of WikiTree
  • When they make their profiles, ooh those modern profiles
  • They like it with a lot of style
  • But it’s still those same old record sources
  • That really, really drives ‘em wild
  • They say the heart of WikiTree is still beating
  • And from what I’ve seen I believe ‘em
  • Now the old sites may be barely breathing
  • But the heart of WikiTree, heart of WikiTree is still beating
  • LA, Hollywood, the cem-e-ter-ies
  • Is something everyone should see
  • Walk of Fame, and the buried movies stars
  • Profiled so perfectly
  • When they show their profiles
  • Their hard sourced profiles
  • They like it with a lot of flash
  • But it’s still those same old record sources
  • That really kicks the others in the...
  • They say the heart of WikiTree is still beating
  • And from what I’ve seen I believe ‘em
  • Now the old sites may be barely breathing
  • But the heart of WikiTree, heart of WikiTree is still beating
  • Senora! Ow! (Music)
  • DC, San Antone and the Liberty Town
  • Boston and Baton Rouge
  • Tulsa, Austin, Oklahoma City
  • Seattle, San Francisco, too
  • Everywhere there’s graveyards, lovely graveyards
  • Stones with a million styles
  • But it’s still those same old record sources
  • That really, really drives ‘em wild
  • They say the heart of WikiTree is still beating
  • And from what I’ve seen I believe ‘em
  • Now the old sites may be barely breathing
  • But the heart of WikiTree, heart of WikiTree is still beating
  • Not Cleveland!

WikiTree Directions

  • I was sitting here
  • Working on the Wikitree
  • Creating profiles when she messaged me
  • She had to be thinkin’ this guy must know everything
  • She had “Hollywood” written on her profile page
  • And didn’t know how to make a “Free Space” page
  • Needin’ directions
  • And I was the man for the job
  • I told her: Up on the menu if you look to the right
  • There’s a little “ADD” button that you might not find
  • Click and scroll down to the "New Free Space Page", you’ll see
  • Then click on that and you’ll be just great
  • But if you get confused, come right back here to me
  • I was sittin’ there
  • Thinkin’ ‘bout what I just done
  • Kickin’ myself for having so much fun
  • And I threw my mouse, and thought you fool; It coulda been love
  • I left for work, I couldn’t run her down
  • She probably didn’t like me anyhow
  • Yeah, on the Internet there isn’t so much of trust
  • I told her: Up on the menu if you look to your right
  • There’s a little “ADD” button that you might not find
  • Click and scroll down to the "New Free Space Page", you’ll see
  • Then click on that and you’ll be just great
  • But if you get confused, come right back here to me
  • Is this Georgia heat playin’ tricks on me
  • Or am I really seein’ what I think I see
  • The woman of my dreams messaged back to me
  • She went up on the menu and saw to the right
  • She clicked on the “ADD” button that’s easy to find
  • She scrolled right down to the “Free Space”, we all see
  • But she really got confused and came right back here to me
  • Thank God, we’ll try “MERGING”
  • I Love WikiTree

  • Whatcha gonna do when you find she's your cousin?
  • Should have checked that before you wed!
  • Whatcha gonna do when you find she's your cousin?
  • Now the kids are saying, "WE'RE INBRED!
  • So you're having trouble with your romance,
  • Should have checked out that fact before she goes!
  • And you might not be seeing what everybody knows:
  • You look like your wife with same hair, eyes and nose!
  • Whatcha gonna do when you find she's your cousin?
  • Should have checked that before you wed!
  • Whatcha gonna do when you find she's your cousin?
  • Now that she's saying "YOU ARE DEAD!
  • And all at once you're thinking: it's all bad!
  • 'Cause ancestors you didn't know you had!
  • When all your friends are calling you a fool
  • Just look 'em in the eye and say "YOU'RE MY COUSIN TOO!
  • Whatcha gonna do when you find she's your cousin?
  • Should have checked that before you wed!
  • Whatcha gonna do when you find she's your cousin?
  • Now that she's saying "YOU ARE DEAD!
  • Whatcha gonna do when you find she's your cousin?
  • Should have checked that before you wed!
  • Whatcha gonna do when you find she's your cousin?

  • Nibblin' on sponge cake
  • Feeling my butt ache
  • Sitting here working on WikiTree
  • My wife’s on the porch swing
  • Doing her own thing
  • While I’m doing my own ancestry!
  • Wasting away again in the Wikitree
  • Searching for that lost cousin of mine!
  • Some people say he’s on Find a Grave
  • But I know, he ain’t on that tree!
  • Don’t know the reason
  • I sat here all season
  • Profiling 3000 and two
  • Profiled some beauties,
  • Movie Star cuties
  • What to do next, I haven’t a clue
  • Wasting away again in the Wikitree
  • Searching for that lost cousin of mine!
  • Some people say he’s on Find a Grave
  • But I know, he might in be that tree!
  • I blew out my lap top
  • Profiling a bad cop
  • Went to Best Buy, and then I came home
  • Brand new computer
  • Finished profiling that loser!
  • Found a new profile to help me hang on!
  • Wasting away again in the Wikitree
  • Searching for that lost cousin of mine!
  • Some people say he’s on Find a Grave
  • But I know, he IS ON THAT TREE!

O. C. California

(Note FYI: O. C. California is "Orange County", California)

Unauthorized parody by Dave Draper

Sung to the tune of "Hotel California" by the Eagles

Here is the music:

  • I was heading down the highway
  • In the cool County air
  • Looking at all the buildings
  • Rising up in the air
  • Up ahead in the distance
  • I turned right at the light
  • I had to park the car and run inside
  • Before they closed for the night
  • At a desk near the doorway
  • I rang the desk top bell
  • And I was thinking to myself
  • "This could be Heaven or this could be Hell"
  • Then she came I asked her
  • I asked her, “Show me the way”
  • There were voices down the corridor
  • They yelled out, “Come this way!"
  • Welcome to the O. C . California
  • In the records place
  • (in the records place)
  • Such a lovely place
  • Plenty of records in the O. C. California
  • Any Time of year
  • (any time of year)
  • You can find them here!
  • Sat at a table that listed
  • It’s got a leg that’s been bent
  • In here are lots of little noisy boys
  • They’re just demons
  • I wished they go in the courtyard
  • I’m starting to sweat
  • Found records to remember
  • Found some to forget
  • So I called up the desk clerk
  • Are the Census to find?”
  • She said, “We haven’t those records here
  • Since 1969”
  • And still those voices are calling from far away
  • Sat my lap top on the table to the right
  • Then I heard them say:
  • Welcome to the O. C . California
  • In the records place
  • (in the records place)
  • Such a lovely place
  • Plenty of records in the O. C. California
  • Any Time of year
  • (any time of year)
  • You can find them here!
  • Bars on the Windows
  • Something don’t look right
  • Lady said there’s a problem here, no
  • Internet tonight
  • And in the managers office
  • They gathered for a meet
  • They came; said, “You can’t do that!”
  • “Get off that WikiTreee!"
  • Last thing I remember, I was
  • Running for the door,
  • Grabbed my lap top away from me
  • And smashed it on the floor
  • “Relax,” said the night man
  • “The program is Ancestry
  • You can only search on Find A Gave
  • But never on WikiTree!”
