David Matlock to Eli Shugart & John R. Thurman; 3/28/1827;Cumberland County Deed Book F- page 183[1][2]

This inenture made this 28th day of March in the
year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and
twenty seven between david Matlock of the County
of Cumberland and State of Kentucky of the one part
Eli Shugart and John R Thurman of the County
and State aforesaid of the other part.  ???? that
he and the said Matlock hath for and in Consideration
of the sum of one hundred dollars sold and conveyed
and by these presents doth sell and Conveyed unto them
the said Shugart & Thurman the following property
??? and ??? ??? horse about five years old
and sorrell mare with a coalt. One grey horse ??? all about
three years old one sorel mare & coal and one grey
filly about two years old. al which I the Said
Matlock Covenants and agrees to warranty and
defend unto them thos said Shugart & Thurman
their heris ?? free from the Claim on Claims of
all and every person or persons Whatever
Never the ?? the true intent and menaing of this
Conveyance is sutch that where as the said Eli
Shugart and John R. Thurman have with the
said Matlock on this day as his securities
executed a note to James Clark for the sum
of one hundred dollars payable six months after
the dates thereof and if not punctually paid
there to beare interest from the date. and the
said Matlock being desirous to indemnify and
Save them the said Shugart & Thurman ??
?? from their secuirty that as of ?? in said
note to said Clark hath therefore made this
Conveyance. Now if the said Matlock shall
satisfy and pay the debt aforesaid in the
?? stipulated and save them from teh said Shugart
and Thurman ??? from their security ship ??
then this Conveyance to be void. but if the Said
Matlock shall fail to pay the same and the
Said Shugart & Thurman be Compelled to pay the afsd
note then this Conveyance be of full effect in
law and Equity. In testimony whereof the said
David Matlock hath hereunto set his hand and
affixed his seal the day and year afd
