The Derwent
The Boat
The Derwent was a ship which sailed around the world for abt. 50 years. It was built by McMillan & Son in Dumbarton, Scotland, and was put on water Oct 20th, 1884. It was described as a decent and modern ship when it was built.
The Crew
At first, the captain of the whip was J. R. Andrews. He remained as captain until the ship was sold to Chr. Nielsen & Co in 1905. This was in Larvik, Norway, so the ship was now called "Derwent af Larvik"(Derwent of Larvik). Stensholt, Carl was the captain of the ship from 1912 to 1919.
