About the Book

A 24 page partial family list of the descendants of Samuel Gilmore and Mary Smith of Tyrone County, Ireland, with a short forward compiled by Philip Bell Woodworth of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, around 1905. Most of this information was provided by Mary Bell Gilmore,#A!A , widow of John Gilmore, #14, and includes information from the dates of Nancy Gilmore Wright, #1D.

The first page is almost illegible and contains duplicate information to page 2 so has been combined transcribed. See attached.

After Samuel Gilmour, individuals are numbered as follows:

  • Figure 1 stands for First Son
  • Figure 2 “ “ Second Son
  • Figure 3 “ “ Third Son
  • Figure 8 “ “ Eighth Son
  • Letter A stands for First Daughter
  • Letter B “ “ Second Daughter
  • Letter C “ “ Third Daughter
  • Letter F “ “ Sixth Daughter

In the family lists sons are given first in order, 1,2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 A B C D E F G H etc. The number 14A2 would be read as the 2nd son of the first daughter of the 4th son of the 1st son of Samuel Gilmour (his spelling). The following abbreviations are also used:
