Robert Baird Armstrong and his family arrived in New Zealand at Lyttelton aboard the ship Dunedin on its maiden voyage in 1874. (3 July 1874.) Robert's family settled in the then Malvern county at Waddington, near Sheffield. Robert and several other family members later moved to the West Coast.

• The person born Mary Elizabeth Ellen Armstrong (abt.1878-1946) is mis-connected as the husband of William Otto August (abt.1883-1937). The correct spouse ought to be Mary Ellen (Dwyer) August (1891-1946), who is a child of the spouse of Joseph Armstrong. The age at the date of death in 1946, according to the cited death certificate, is 54, not 68. Also, at death, Mary Ellen August had three surviving Armstrong siblings according to her death notices.

• Note: Mary Elizabeth "Helen" (or Ellen?) Armstrong (abt.1878-?), has a record for her marriage to James Black in 1918 and in her newspaper marriage notice is described as the only daughter of the late:
