She was born in Ireland ( possibly Tuam Galway, and may have lived in ( Corohan, Curraghan, Curraghaun) I thought her parents were William and Mary but it seems that I have the wrong people. I have a newspaper clipping that had a Delia Diskin daughter that went back and visited Ireland that I thought was her sister Delia but it looks like these are cousins that lived in Canada. Her sisters were Delia Disken Higgins of Scranton/ Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania and Honora / Nora Jacks It looks like there was a sister Winifred that stayed in Ireland. --- Notes from my mother - Winifred Diskin Conroy was Mary Diskin Bly's sister (Winnie) Patrick Conroy was Winifred Diskin Conroy's Son

Mary Diskin lived in Milltown near Tuam there was a gas station and house combined was owned by Gert Diskin Varley (Daughter of Trudy Varley and cousin of Mary) - Next Door lived Mary Ann Conroy - End of town 5 miles 1886 church of Ireland Clarimoris - Priest was father Varley - this was Mary Diskin Bly's Church Mary Diskin came to Wilkes-barre Pennsylvania to become a nanny for a mute boy in the late 1800s She returned to Ireland and brought Delia and Nora over She married Theron Bly in 1896 in Wilkes-barre Pennsylvania --- Unable to locate any Mary Diskin with parents William and Mary. I think Mary Diskin, daughter of Thomas and Mary Reilly might be the closest match.

  • On the 1911 Census Thomas and Mary were living in Beag, Foxhill, Galway with three of their children - Winifred (age 26), Thomas (age 21), and John (age 25). Mary is listed as being married 43 years with 11 children - 10 of which are still living in 1911. [28]
  • Thomas died on 3 Jun 1911 in Beagh, Galway. His wife, Mary, was the witness on his death record. (three months after the census took place) [29]
  • Mary died on 8 Oct 1926 in Castlegrove, Galway. Her son, Thomas, was a witness on her death record. [30]

Eliminated as family

James Diskin and Bridget Tierney. They had daughters Mary and Bridget but not Winifred. Their daughter Mary married Martin Brett in 1891 and had a child, Bridget Brett in 1896 who was living with her grandparents in 1901 on the Census. This means that this Mary couldn't have married Theron Bly in 1895 in Pennsylvania. --* This is interesting because I have a newspaper article and notes about Martin and Mary Brett in my grandmother's album - Mary Brett died January 24, 1966 - a relict of Martin Brett, Dunmore - aunt of Rev J. Diskin and sister of the late William Diskin - Parish Church, Clarenbridge - funeral at Adrigoole cemetery, Dunmore Mary and William could be cousins to my ggrandmother. My Great Grandmother - Mary Diskin Bly died in WilkesBarre, Pennsylvania in 1937 --*
