Film Facts

Plot: Lady is a sheltered cocker spaniel who lives a pampered life in the home of Jim Dear and Darling. All is good until a new baby arrives, followed soon by Aunt Sarah and her two Siamese cats. Lady soon finds herself muzzled and put outside. That's when she meets Tramp, a streetwise mutt, who convinces her to run away with him. As Lady and Tramp fall for each other, the question becomes whether their two divergent lifestyles can mesh together, and if so, what form that will take.

- The film was based on Happy Dan, The Cynical Dog, a 1945 story by Ward Greene, which appeared in Cosmopolitan magazine. Greene would later write the Scamp comic strip, based on the adventures of Lady and Tramp's young son.

- Lady and the Tramp was Disney's 15th animated feature film. It was released in the United States on 22 Jun 1955.

- Lady and the Tramp was the first animated film to be produced in the CinemaScope Widescreen process.

- Actress and singer Peggy Lee not only voiced four different characters in the film, but also wrote six if the film's songs.
