Information: The Dobbins Cemetery was established in December, 1856, by the Dobbins family after the death of Alexander Dobbin's first wife, Zelpha. Family of the founding families of Appleton were buried in the cemetery in the following years.

During the Battle of Sugar Creek in December, 1864, fought on the banks of the nearby Sugar Creek, many Confederate soldiers were buried at the Dobbins Cemetery, marked with only stones lined along the Western side of the cemetery.
