Ruth Dodson (25 Dec 1754 – 22 Nov 1828) married her 1st cousin Jesse Dodson (22 Nov 1752 – 22 Nov 1843). Jesse died on his birthday at age 91. Ruth died on the same date as Jesse (Nov 22 – it was also his birthday) but, 17 years before him at age 74.

Their fathers were brothers. Ruth’s father was Elisha Dodson Sr. and Jesse’s father (and Elisha’s brother) was Thomas Dodson Jr.

Elisha’s and Thomas’ father (and Ruth’s and Jesse’s grandfather was Thomas Dodson Sr. (15 May 1681 – 21 Nov 1740). He died before Ruth and Jesse were born so he never knew that two of his grandkids got married.

Between the two of them, Elisha Dodson Sr. and Thomas Dodson Jr. had 20 children. WOW!

Jesse was banished from the family (maybe for marrying his cousin), but the official reason was because he became a pastor of the Baptist Church. Most Baptist churches allowed slaves to be baptized. Something other denominations didn't allow at the time.
