Ross, Joseph Harve, Sr. | 1755-1839 | We do not know the identity of Joseph Harve Ross's parents. All we know for certain is that his parents were the emigrants in our family who came to America in the mid-1700's from somewhere in Great Britain (possibly via Ireland or directly from Scotland. DNA testing strongly suggests that our ancestral heritage is Scottish.) Joseph Ross's middle name "Harve" is uncertain, that is family lore. HIs birthplace is also unknown. What we do know is that sometime prior to 1800 [when Joseph Ross shows up on Nelson County Kentucky Tax lists] that he and some (or all) of his family migrated west from Pennsylvania (from what exact location unknown) to the area that is now Nelson County, Kentucky. Joseph may have been born in Ireland and brought to America with his family as a child or born in Pennsylvania after they arrived. Joseph's estimated birth date is derived from birth dates of his known children, and his estimated death date from his presence in 1830 Nelson County census and absence in 1840 census. |
Ross, Nancy (Williams) | 1755-00-00 | The Nelson County, KY genealogy & history folks surveyed the “Old Abel Cemetery” in Nelson County years ago and documented four persons buried their (of ~15-20 total) from then still identifiable gravestone markings. From this we know for certain that a Nancy Ross is buried there very near where the wife of husband Joseph Harve Ross, Sr. and she are well documented to have lived. We assume that she was the former Nancy Williams but this is not well documented |
Ross, Joseph Harve, Jr. | 1791-05-28 | to-do |
Ross, Margaret Jane (Morton) | 1796-12-11 | to-do |
