Hi Deborah and Dracup Descendants. I'm in the United States (W. NY) gr. gr. grandparents were Nathaniel H. Dracup and Nancy E Bailey. Arrived c. 1880 with three children to work in wool mill in Jamestown, NY, USA.

Have you seen Tim Dracup's amazing work on the family and descendants? https://timdracup.wordpress.com/category/dracup-genealogy/

  • He has a photo of the ship my ancestors arrived on! The mill they worked in!*

Take a look, so much painstaking research is here.

Hi! I added text to the companion category for your name study (Category:Dracup Name Study). Feel free to edit it. The default for the template is to add the main category, but you can add a line to have a different category. See the ONS template page for details. Give me a holler if you have any questions about categorization.

I also created a redirect from the surname index for Dracup & Dracoop: - Project:Dracup (or Project:Dracoop) now takes you to this page.

Cheers, Liz

I have decided to start a one name study on the surname Dracup, which appears in my family tree. I believe all of the UK Dracups have a common UK ancestor and there may also be descendants elsewhere. The earliest Dracups appear to have been in Yorkshire, but I'm still unclear where the name originally came from.
