Death.

Second Wife? Thomas' will calls out his "loveing yoak fellow [Jaone or Joane] Goodenow" who "shall halv and enjoy the thirds of all my lands in Marborough during her life ...." Several sources report this as notice of a second wife.

If his wife is the widow who died at Sudbury, "Jane, wid. July 15, 1666 [M.R.]" (before the date of Thomas' will), then the name in the will may have intended Jane. HathiTrust, FamilySearch.

... Unless that death entry was delayed; entered after Thomas had died?

Son Nathaniel? If son Thomas, ae 20, is the person who returned to New England from England in 1656 on Speedwell, then passenger Nathaniel Goodenow, ae 16, must only be closely related--as his birth would be after Thomas and Jane immigrated. Another onboard is Thomas Barnes, ae 20. See Savage and "A Lyst of the Pasingers Abord the Speedwell of Longon, Robert Lock, Master, Bound for New England," 1 (1947), 132; digital images, HathiTrust,

At age 20, Thomas Barnes on the Speedwell is comparable to Thomas Barnes (1636-1679) who married, we say Marlborough, 2 July 1662, Thomas and Jane (_____) Goodenow's daughter Abigail Goodenow

WikiTree has marriage information supposedly from Torrey for Nathaniel, but was unable to find such an entry in the 2015 edition/version.
