Introduction
- Drummaul civil parish in County Antrim covers an area from Lough Neagh in the South to the edge of Ahoghill town in the North, including the town of Randalstown. There are two disconnected outliers west of the main parish adjacent to Lough Neagh. Drummaul has a total area of 86.5 km² or 33.4 square miles. These detached parts of the parish contain 4 townlands - Ballynaleney, Portlee, Ballynacraigy and Killyfad. Of these Ballynaleney and Portlee are themselves split into two parts, one in each of the detached portions of the parish.
- The River Main or Maine bisects the parish running roughly North to South. The main M22 and A6 roads cross the southern part of the parish East to West. Other main roads are the B52 Portglenone Road, B93 Ahoghill Road, B53 Craigstown Road which originate in Randalstown, and the B18 Whitesides Road from Toome to Ballymena which crosses the northern part of the parish.
- Drummaul is situated in the historic barony of Toome Upper. The Irish name is Droim Málla[1] although one historical source records the name as Druim Máil "Mal's Ridge".[2]

The Townlands of Drummaul Civil Parish
- The townlands in Drummaul Parish (Droim Málla) are those taken from Drummaul Parish on Logainm.ie and validated against townlands on the 1851, 1871 and 1901 Lists of Towns and Townlands and Griffiths valuations data. A link is provided in the notes for the 1901 and 1911 census. Please note that these may not always work if the townland was not available on the census in question. The census site may also substitute a similar name so be prepared for unexpected results! Similar for Griffith's valuation links which may show multiple names.
- If the townland has a category it will be linked in the table below. If there is no link and you need the category please contact David to get the category created or put in a request for the category to be created. Alternatively, if you feel condifent to do so, see Townland Category Information Boxes below for how to create them yourself.
