Description & Purpose

This is a One Name Study for Two Names to collect together in one place everything about these surnames and the variants of that name. The Durbins and Logsdons have intermarried so often, that they have almost become one.. Most resources for one will include the other.

The hope is that other researchers like you will join our study to help make it a valuable reference point for people studying lines that cross or intersect. Please contact the project leader, add categories to your profiles, add your questions to the bulletin board, add details of your name research, etc.

Tanya, I have begun renaming the place categories and deleting old ones. It's going to take awhile.

As per what Liz said, below. Place, Durbin Name Study.

Future categories should follow One Name Study convention - Place, Durbin Name Study

Don't redo all you've done, but going forward, use "Durbin Name Study" instead of "Durbins".

See Categorization on the ONS project page.

Thanks!

Tanya, I've been thinking of how to categorize the rest of the world's Durbins? By Country? Thoughts?

Like: England, Durbin Name Study; Australia, Durbin Name Study.

I began to add Logsdons in their own categories. If you don't agree with this, let me know. First example: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Logsdon-1169.

It's a way to keep the families in our name study separated for research purposes. Like I said, up for discussion.

When we get organized we can add blood line categories, like decentants of (name) I am doing this now for the Skinners. Here is an example Edward Eratus Brewster
I gave them their own Title with disclaimer.
Those resources at the bottom of the list are a nice reference in that names are there, but many of them are not sourced with any records. I would be sure to have other records to back up anything claimed in these sources.
