1. William and Elizabeth Eagleton and Family

The earliest known Eagleton who lived in Penshurst, Kent, was William Eagleton (1818-1881). He was born in Chiddingstone, Kent, to Thomas and Charlotte (Duly) Eagleton. He married Elizabeth Leigh (1820-1889), also of Chiddinghurst, in abt.1844. They moved to Penshurst sometime between about 1841 and 1851 (England census dates). At the time of the 1851 census, William, Elizabeth, and two children (Ruth (1844-1864) and William (1847-?)) were living in Penshurst, with William working as a tailor master employing four men, and (at some point) the village postmaster.

William and Elizabeth had five children:

Emma Eliza died 1861 aged about 7 years, and Ruth died in 1864 aged about 20 years. Their father William died in 1881 aged 63 years, and is buried with his two daughters at St. Peter's Churchyard, Fordcombe, Sevenoaks District, Kent.

Son William ???

Mary Elizabeth married Henry Constable in 1874 in Penshurst. They had at least eight children between 1874 and 1889.

Charles Duly married Harriet Holmes Taylor in 1883 in West Ashford, Kent. They had three children between 1886 and 1888.

William's wife Elizabeth died in 1889 at the age of 69 years.
