Possibly same person as Johannes Tovey listed in the lay subsidy of 1603 a holding land worth 40s in Martley [2]

Maurice T of Thornborough was mentioned in the will of Maurice Hill in 1597:

Note that the testator borrowed £60 from Maurice Tovie of Thombury, giving as surety a deed of feoffment of lands in Tockington, near Walney. The £60 has been repaid by testator, but Maurice Tovie has not returned deeds.[1]

Possibly related was Nathaniel Tovey, rector of Lutterworth, Leics, ca 1640, & Ayleston, where he died 1658 [1]. He may have been teh son of John Tovey, tutor of Sir John Harrington, died ca 1605 [2]. His son Nat matriculated from Sussex college in 1612.
