Surnames/tags: garrigues lightfoot Meredith Whereas Edward Garrigues of the Township of Kingsessing in the County of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, Son of Saumel Garrigues of the city of Philadelphia and Mary his wife [ both deceased] and Susanna L Meredith Daughter of Thomas Lightfoot of the county of Berks, and State aforesaid, and Hannah his wife, having declared their Intentions of Marriage with each other before a Monthly Meetings of the Religious Society of Friends for Exeter in the said County of Berks according to the good order used amongst them and having consent of the surviving parents their said proposal of Marriage was allowed of by the said Meeting. --- Now These are to Certify whom it may concern, that for the full accomplishment their said Intentions this fourth day of the fifth Month in the Year of our Lord one thousand Eight Hundred and fourteen: they the said Edward Garrigues and Susanna L Meredith appeared in a public Meeting of the said People held in their Meeting house at Maiden Brook in the aforesaid County of Berks, and the said Edward Garrigues taking the said Susanna L Meredith by the hand did on this solemn occasion openly declare that he took her the said Susanna L Meredith to be his wife promising with divine assistance to be unto her a loving and faithful Husband until Death Should Seperate them, and then, in the same Assembly the said Susanna L Meredith did in like manner declare that she took him the saidEdward Garrigues to be her Husband, promising wit divine assistance to be unto him a loving and faithful wife untill death should seperate them ; --- And moreover they the said Edward Garrigues and Susanna L Meredith [she according to the Custom of Marriage assuming the Name of her Husband] as a further confirmation thereof did then & there to these presents set their Hands
