"An exceptionally large administrators' sale of the estate of Thomas G. Ellis (1805-1838) of Elliston Plantation near Natchez. 170 of his enslaved people are named, and 21 of the women are offered with an unnamed child, presumably infants. A few of them are given descriptive names, including Big Jesse and Little Jesse, Old Jenny, and "Harry (dark)." ..... Many are listed with surnames other than Ellis, suggesting that they were acquired from other masters"[2]
- Twenty two years separate the above inventory and the one below from Thomas' father's estate. Some of the names might be able to be matched.
