Deeds of Emancipation, Harrison County, Kentucky, United States, 1797-1858
Below is a list of individuals from the Harrison County, Kentucky deed index, "N," Negroes Emancipated, which begins on page 14 of the index and continues through page 18. When a discrepancy exists between names in the deeds and the index, deed names are used. Deeds for more than one individual are expanded to an entry for each person rather than one for the deed.
Current work progress: in process of completing the transfer of information to the chart. A preliminary, but not thorough, check for profiles of these individuals on WikiTree as part of the US Black Heritage Project has been done. Here a quick link to the index in the FamilySearch catalog. Here is a quick link to the catalog's list of Harrison County deed books.
Initially there appear to be 72 deeds, though at least one individual, Garrett (possibly also Jarred) has potentially three entries; nine entries appear to pertain to more than one enslaved person. Current estimate of enslaved individuals in the index and related deeds: 85.
There appear to be nine slave holders with multiple entries. Current estimate of slave holders in the index and related deeds: 58.
