The 39 Historic English Counties and the Cities of London and Bristol
Most of the Historic Counties of England did not have a flag until the late 20th century/early 21st century. None of these modern flags replace an ancient flag. All the following official flags are registered with The Flag Institute (UK)

The City of London and City of Bristol historically have not been situated within a county and have stickers reflecting this.

The images for the County of London (1889-1965) and Greater London (1965 to date) may be used when a location in one of the historic counties of Middlesex, Surrey, Essex, Hertfordshire and Kent was incorporated into the expanding London conurbation.

To use these city and county flags in the "Born in ... " stickers, this page explains the formatting for the template you should use: Template:England_Sticker

Hi,

I'm looking for the Isle of Axholme flag which is a part of the County of Lincolnshire. Are there any plans to introduce it and other flags for below county level areas/regions?

There are no plan to add any flags of England or Wales below county level.

I am looking for a Celtic Flag...thought it might be somewhere around here ??
posted on UK Flags (merged) by Sjana Lee (Dreyer) Bauer
Hi Sjana - these are the official flags of the constituent nations of the British Isles, plus the county flags for England and Wales. Ireland is here for historic reasons as it has not been a part of the United Kingdom since 1922. If you PM me, I'll try to help you find an image. The Celtic peoples occupied most of the British Isles and what is now northern France at one time.

Hi

I'm looking to use the flag of Jersey. Has it been added somewhere?

posted on UK Flags (merged) by Graham Down
Hi Graham,

As Jersey isn't part of the UK, I hadn't planned to add it on this page. Let me check if there is an official Wikitree upload already. I'll reply to you privately if I find it.

Jo

Hi Jo

Bad me - I truly thought Jersey was a part of the UK although I knew it was not part of England. Before I saw your posting I found the page to upload to and I added the flags I was after. These have the names UK_Flags-43.png and UK_Flags-44.png respectively. If you want I guess I can remove them. GD

a bit late, but the Jersey flag is listed on Space: Flags, and I just added the "before 1981" flag that you uploaded. Sorry for the delayed response :D

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone knows of a flag for Tyne and Wear (since 1974) or Newcastle upon Tyne (a county corporate from 1400-1974)?
posted on UK Flags (merged) by Caleb (Anderson) Day
The flag of Tyne and Wear (post 1974) is on this page on Wikimedia Commons

According to the Flag Institute, the flag of Northumberland should be used for all of the historic county of Northumberland including the City of Newcastle upon Tyne.

Thanks a lot, Jo! I have a similar question but this time I will try to find the answer myself on those websites you provided, rather than asking someone else to do the work for me!

Hi, I have found what I'm looking for, but I'm not sure of the established usage for profile stickers.

This is the flag of Shetland: https://www.flaginstitute.org/wp/flags/shetland-flag/ It was only adopted a few decades ago, but its design alludes to Shetland's long history (it was designed for the 500-year anniversary of the transfer of Shetland from Norway to Scotland).

So, should I use this flag for my migrating ancestors from Shetland to New Zealand? Or should I use the Scottish flag instead, since the Shetland flag was not yet in use when they migrated?

Thanks!
