Goal

The goal of the Essex Team is to make all Essex profiles the best that they can be. It is our desire to leave a lasting legacy of work for future generations and current researchers that can facilitate their quest for family history, and bring them one step closer to discovering the myriad of people it has taken for them to draw breath.

Topics

In order to achieve our goal, we work on a number of different topics, with plenty of scope to expand, depending on member interests.

Team Member Focus

  • Overseeing the Essex County Category page and ensuring that it is consistent with the other England County pages

The Numbers

The England team use a standard set of statistics to check on the progress of each county and to highlight areas which need work.

The most recent statistics for Essex can be found here. These tables gives an overview of the profiles, showing how our branch of the tree is growing and how its quality is improving.

Is there a special indicator for chaplain to Queens? Does he qualify as a notable?

Profile manager doesn't reply to my query on the son's label of DCD. Should that be DD?

Taking another look at the Essex profiles we now have profile total has now risen 113,929 with the unsourced number now 2205 and currently in a downward trend. The unconnected number is now 10,631 and trending down in the Green. Our work still continues, Thanks to you all.

We are in our first week of February now and our profile total has now risen 434 to 110,080 with the unsourced number down again by 23 keeping it happily still in the Green. And although unconnected number has risen by 42 to 10481 considering the increase in our profile numbers overall I'm still very happy with the way our figures are going it's all working out very nicely so far so let's try our best to keep it that way. Thanks to you all.

A slightly belated happy New Year to you all and things I've kicked off in a rather manic way for me but that's enough of my problems. After ending the year on a stagnant note we have dropped nicely back into the green with 2113, that's down 10 from the last count. Our unconnected figure has climbed by 32 to 10397 but I'm sure we can get that number more reasonable by the next count. Thanks for your efforts over the holiday period.

Well that's another year nearly over and it appears we are finishing on a good note. Both Unsourced (2123) and Unconnected (10327) profiles numbers are in the green again. Although the trend is downwards I'm sure we can keep it in the green and hopefully up for the New Year.

Our total profiles are up by another 225 this week from last week to 108, 513. That's a nice figure and it goes without saying the more new profiles that are added the more connections are made within our Essex region, that of course helps everybody looking for connections to their families in Essex and beyond. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all and good future researching

posted by Paul Shepard
Well here we are in December and our profile numbers appear to be steady at 107,383. The unsourced profiles are only up 2 at 2157 the same as the unconnected at 10401. Maybe with a little push we can finish this year all in the Green with numbers down a bit. If you're able to add a few extra profiles it may give us some more connected profiles in our Essex area. That may give us some interesting Tree connections, who knows.

Thanks for all your efforts

It’s very nice to see our total profile number up to 106333 for the Essex region. I’m pleased to see the Unsourced Profile number down and in the green at 2220. The Unconnected number is up 40 to 10383 but I’m confident we can reverse that with A little effort. Thanks for your work and keep up the research.

After 2weeks in the Red with our Unsourced profiles we are now back on the Green side with 1983 down 8 from last week. Our Unconnected are Red at 10004 up 77 and we have a total profile number of 100070. Not a bad position I don’t think. Thanks everyone.

Well look at that, in the Green for Unsourced profiles again I'm very impressed, down 11 from 2161 to 2150. The total Essex profiles number is 94956 that's up 458, I'm sure it won't be long before we break the 100,000 barrier. I won't worry about the unconnected profiles because although it's in the Red, that number tends to be very up-and-down anyway and I'm sure we'll bring it down again quite soon. Thanks for your help

I'm very impressed, for two weeks running now our Unsourced (Down to 2173) and Unconnected (Down to 9996) profiles have been in the green and heading in the right direction. Our total profiles for the Essex region are also up at 93820. That just leaves me to say well done and let's keep up the good work.
posted by Paul Shepard
Well not a bad result this week as the unsourced profiles are down and Green by 24 to 2187. The unconnected are up by 36 and in the red 29996 but I would expect a few good hits with profiles in that section will soon bring them back down again.

Our total profile numbers are now 92664 which is up by 556 and I expect it won't be too long before we hit the 100,000 mark so well done team keep up the good work.

Hi there team, well our region profiles are now up to 91240 and unsourced profiles are down by 1 and still in the green at 2202 so things are looking good there.

Unconnected are in the red up by 11 to 29968 but that's to be expected as profiles get added until they finally find their own connections in the grand scheme of things. I look forward to seeing what the week brings in our region and once again thanks for all your work.

Well not a bad week this week. The number of profiles for the Essex region has now increased by 233 to 90445. The unsourced profiles has dropped by eight and is still in the green at 2223. The unconnected profiles have risen into the red again by 50 and now stands at 9967 but I'm sure with a little work we can bring that one down once again thanks for all your work I look forward to seeing the figures for next week to see how we fare.

Well that's interesting, around sourced profiles have increased by 16 to 2235 but the unconnected profiles have dropped by 8 to 9917. And it's nice to see the total number of profiles for the Essex region stands at 90,212. I'm pleased to say that that figure has been added this month, now we can keep an eye on the rise in profiles for the Essex area. Thanks for all your work things are still looking positive I feel.

I’m very pleased to see both Unsourced and Unconnected numbers in the green this week.

Unsourced at 2225 (down 222) and Unconnected at 9871 (down 516) we’ll done everyone keep up the good work.

More success this week with the Unsorced number coming down by 39 to 2447. I have to admit the Unconnected profiles are proving a little more difficult to bring down and I have found some families profiles to be really difficult to connect outside of the family group. We are up to 10387 Unconnected profiles currently on our list but I will persist and thank you for your help this week

Do you see any Ravens still unconnected in Essex? I have that branch in my tree. If I have time, I might be able to see if any connect to my branch.

Well this week sees a lovely drop in the figures into the green for both Unsourced (2486 -26) and Unconnected (10369 -51) so we should all be pleased with ourselves. Thanks for the work you do. No matter how little you may think you do it all helps.

Whoops, we seem to have had a jump into the RED'S this week with Unsourced up 43 (2512) and Unconnected up 75 (10420). It makes me think of my school days with school reports saying "must try harder". I will try harder and thanks for your help too.

Happy New Year to you all,

it's very pleasing to see that we have managed to bring the Unsourced figures down to 2472(-7) for the start of this new year. I am currently attempting to make inroads into the unconnected profiles even though some of them are proving a little frustrating. I hope you're all still enjoying working your way through profiles and thank you for all your efforts.

Hi there, well it looks like the figures have caught up now and I'm impressed to say the least at what was has been achieved. With the unsourced and Unconnected now both in the green at 2487 unsourced and 9969 unconnected things are looking good. Congratulations on your good work.

Whoops ! I see we have slipped a couple of points down, but let’s not let that put us back. 2 points back in the Unsourced is a little hiccup so keep going and we’ll soon be back in the green. The Unconnected will sort it’s self out as we go along. Stay positive,

Well there you go, two weeks in a row in the Green that's a great result, Down five again to 2751. The same for the unconnected only this is down 72 to 29903. We should all be pleased with that, good work, let's try to keep it up.

Things are looking better this week we’re down 22 on the Unsourced and 10 on the Unconnected so looking nice and Green. It would be nice if we could keep it that way for the coming week too ❗️

Another slip this week, both Unsourced and Unconnected have popped back into the Red. Perhaps with a little effort we can bring them back to Green. I’ll do what I can and welcome any help in the Essex county. Good luck.

Thanks Paul! We really appreciate your work in Essex.
Well things are looking up this week. we have a pleasant drop of 21 into Green in our Unsourced numbers, down to 2755 (was 2776). The Unconnected is up and Red by 43 (to 9987) but I'm sure we can sort that one soon. Thanks for your efforts, Paul

Hi there team, well we've had a little jump in the sourced this week we now have 2776 up 14 from last week and 9788 which is 33 up in the unconnected category. A little work to do there then, but I'm sure that's not beyond our capabilities. We do have a large jump in the suggestion box up 2636 to 10425 but it shouldn't take long to start bringing those numbers down. That's a lot of RED but let's keep on going. Thanks for all your work.

A few of the profiles I sourced yesterday were a mix between Essex and Middlesex. I'm not sure why the huge jump - bit out of the loop on the suggestions and haven't looked, but perhaps someone's turned some of their profile suggestions on (the incompletion ones where radio buttons need to be checked if the sources confirm such things). I still have over 2000 on my own to clear out and I'm working through them a bit each week. My recommendation for the suggestions would be each Essex member tackles a few of those where radio buttons for mother and father, birth and death dates and locations are confirmed etc. This might include a little more research as I'm sure there are many of us who have started a profile just to get the kid in the family they found on a census etc, but haven't done more with it. (Surely, it's not just me).

Well although the Essex Unsourced is still in the RED it only rose by 2 points to 2763 so nothing to worry about there. Our Essex unconnected dropped by 17 to 9623 and thats a good result. Lets be positive and see if we can get GREEN's for next week. Good work , keep it up.

Hi there Team, I hope you're having a good week.

Things look better in the statistics box this week. Unsourced (2755), Unconnected (9566) and Suggestions (8286) are all back in the Green. It's not time to relax though as these have a habit of creeping back on us. Thanks for your work so far but let's not ease the pressure just yet as it looks much better in this colour. Well Done, Paul

Well that's a surprise! You'll notice a large jump in numbers this week. It seems to be due to new inclusions after a change in the rules of engagement of Profiles, so to speak. We now have to wait till next week to see if we are moving in the right direction but lets just keep pushing on and keep our eye on the ball, aiming to get those figures back in the Green. Good luck Team.

Well Team, we've had a bit of a swing this last couple of weeks. The Unsourced has nicely dropped 33 to 2074 in the Green but the Unconnected has jumped 54 to 7892 in the Red. Keep plugging on and let's try to improve that figure.

Well as we can see our Essex Unsourced and Unconnected Stats are now well into RED double figures. I would like to assume its because Essex profiles are increasing. If you would like to help get them back towards GREEN I'm sure we'd all appreciate your efforts however small. Thanks

Hi All

From saturday, 1 February, we are running a month-long "Go Green" challenge.

This will be region vs. region, rather than counties, the winner will be the region with the largest drop in total numbers (sourcing + connecting + suggestions).

All the contributing county team members within the winning region will be given a sticker for their profiles :)

So if you fancy sourcing, connecting or correcting for our region comment below!

Here is a link to the regional data. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:England%2C_Regional_and_County_Statistics_Page

If you have any questions just ask :)

Note that you don’t need to sign up if you are already a member of this team. There's something for everyone to do, whether it be sourcing, connecting, or working on suggestions. Also, if you are concentrating on connecting, you may be able to find your county/region of choice on our largest branches page: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:England%27s_Largest_Unconnected_Branches
