The goal of this project is to find the descendants of Simon Fraser of Lovatt.

Right now this project just has one member, me. I am Steve Clarke.

Here are some of the tasks that I think need to be done. I'll be working on them, and could use your help.

  • Identifying the Frasers who are descended from Simon Fraser of Lovatt.

Will you join me? Please post a comment here on this page, in G2G using the project tag, or send me a private message. Thanks!

Hi Chris, my great great grandfather was an Alexander Fraser born 1784 died 1846 and lived in Inverness and worked as a mason and was married to a Mary Chisholm. His only son, John Fraser immigrated to Australia in the 1850's. We think Alexander's father was a John Fraser. It was a family folk lore that we descended from one of the Simon Lord Lovats but I don't believe we did as I can't see any connection and I suspect their are a lot of Fraser families in this world that also believe they are descended from one of the Lords. I have inked my DNA onto WikiTree and suspect DNA might be the best way to try and link some of the many Frasers who are interested in their geneology. Thanks for starting this.

Hello, I can trackback directly to David Fraser 1794-6, a farmer at Balnuilt near Inverness. On his death certificate, it gives his father as Donald Fraser, also a farmer from Croy & Dalcross. His mother is given as Catherine Fraser nee Dean. At that point, I am stuck, as there are so many Donald Frasers and no connections to Dean. I have narrowed it down to contenders born 1747 or 1765. From there it is supposition at present. If we can help each other with these difficulties I a very happy to help.

Hi Steve:

My niece's Erin Shandell Catherine Moore have her DNA test and found out who all her ancestors are. We found out that we are descendants of Simon Fraser, born 09 December 1755, at Kiltarlity, Inverness-shire, Scotland. He was married to Jessie "Janet Calder, born 08 July 1759, in Scotland. Would that Simon Fraser ring a bell to you? my grandmother name was Jane Rose Fraser, 5th generation of that Fraser clan. My grandmother was married to my grandfather's Edward Andrew Moore Let me know what you can find on that Simon Fraser and Jessie "Janet" Calder.

Hi Steve;

I am a descendant of the Fraser of Sand, Gairloch, Ross & Cromarty, Inverness-shire, Scotland. My 3rd great grandfather was Duncan Fraser, born about 1781. His son's Roderick Fraser immigrate to North America, to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada. most of his descendants lived in Cape Breton and United States.

Greetings,

Interested in joining the project. My heritage goes back through Canada. Actually, I live right on the US/Canadian border along the St. Lawrence River. I'm related to Colonel William Fraser commander of the Grenville Militia. Of which we just had a reenactment of the Battle of Ogdensburg in which his militia was one of the involved units.

Steve, I am adding Fraser/Frazier branches to Wikitree to try and sort them out. I have a brick wall I am trying to surmount. My mother's maiden name is Frazier. I have started a Frazier One Name Study Project and hope to coordinate with the Fraser Surname Project.
Interested. I'm currently working my Fraser ancestry back through Canada. It's a tangle with all the Frasers to sort through.
